It was the second day of our vacation, and I had been wanting to try Another Broken Egg Cafe in Grayton Beach for breakfast. There are a number of locations in the area, and we still hadn’t been. Nikki however wanted to head down to Seaside and eat at Great Southern Cafe. We had eaten there before, we know it’s good, we love Seaside, it makes sense. Happy wife, happy life… We’ll try Another Broken Egg one of these days.
I ordered the waffles ($8), which come with fresh fruit. And I recommend the gouda grits ($3.50)… strongly. The waffles are good too. I like the unconventional shape, and they’re lightly vanilla flavored, which is a nice bonus.
Nikki got the pancake plate ($10), which is 3 pancakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon. And of course she added a side of cheese grits. We had a brief moment of panic when our server brought out her plate with no cheese grits. She realized they didn’t come with the meal, but we remedied that situation quickly.
I didn’t realize this, but the Great Southern Cafe serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So far we’ve only had breakfast, but this will by no means be our last time here.
The restaurant is right in the middle of Seaside. You really can’t miss it. It’s right next to a pretty cool indie record store called Central Square Records. And after you eat, you can walk across the street to the beach and take a nap before lunch… And don’t worry, we’ll have a recommendation for that too!
